Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), part of the Adani Group, has announced plans to invest ₹80,000 crore over the next five years to significantly expand its renewable energy capacity across India. The investment will primarily focus on building new solar and wind energy parks in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh, strengthening Adani’s position as one of the leading green energy players in the world.
According to company officials, the goal is to take AGEL’s operational capacity from the current 10.9 GW to 30 GW by 2030. This expansion plan is in line with India’s national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by the same year. The company has already secured large tracts of land and is in the advanced stages of securing environmental and regulatory approvals for several upcoming sites.
The investment will also go toward upgrading transmission infrastructure, creating battery storage facilities, and developing green hydrogen capabilities. The group aims to use advanced technology and AI-driven systems to maximize efficiency and minimize carbon emissions during energy production and distribution.
Chairman Gautam Adani, speaking at a recent energy summit, emphasized that this massive push toward clean energy is not only about business growth but also about securing India’s energy future and addressing global climate change concerns. He also highlighted that the projects would generate thousands of new jobs, especially in rural regions, and stimulate local economies.
This move reinforces Adani’s commitment to sustainable development and supports India’s transition to becoming a global leader in clean energy solutions.
